Purpose of the role
Reporting into the Head of Performance Marketing, as the Senior SEO Manager you will be joining Zego’s Marketing team at an incredibly exciting time.
We are looking for a Senior SEO Manager who is a builder at heart and a specialist in organic growth. This is a high-autonomy role designed for someone who doesn't just "manage" SEO, but owns it as a primary traffic and revenue driver.
You will be the architect of our organic presence, moving between the high-stakes world of commercial insurance keywords and the creative landscape of informational content and video.
You are a self-starter who can navigate the "search everywhere" era from traditional Google SERPs to the rising influence of GEO and Social Search. You’ll be comfortable working with our Brand, Performance and Design teams to ensure our organic growth feels like Zego, while relentlessly scaling our visibility.
What you'll be working on
Strategic Roadmap & Market Dominance
- End-to-End Ownership: Define and execute the organic roadmap, balancing quick-win commercial gains with long-term topical authority.
- Intent-Led Growth: Move beyond vanity metrics by segmenting performance (Brand, Commercial, Informational) and treating each as a distinct business lever.
- Expansion Architecture: Lead the SEO blueprint for new product launches, from site hierarchy and keyword mapping to building "magnetic" supporting content ecosystems.
Authority & Content Innovation
- Off-Page Excellence: Lead elite-level off-page strategies, managing high-tier Digital PR and link-building via internal sprints or external agencies to dominate root-domain authority.
- Modern Search Exploration: Stay ahead of the "Search Everywhere" shift by experimenting with Social Search (TikTok/YouTube), GEO (Generative Engine Optimization), and ASO to ensure Zego is found wherever users search.
- Human-Centric Content: Oversee the ideation of brand-aligned, high-impact assets that satisfy both search intent and creative excellence.
Technical & Performance Engineering
- Technical Stewardship: Act as the "on-site champion," conducting best-in-class audits, monitoring site health, and managing the technical backlog from sizing to deployment.
- Data-Driven Insights: Analyze organic data and competitor activity to identify friction points and opportunities, ensuring technical SEO KPIs are met and reported with clarity.
- Optimization Lifecycle: Lead continuous keyword research and landing page optimization to ensure we stay ahead of industry shifts and algorithm updates.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Search Integration: Partner with Paid Search for total-search synergy and Brand/Design to ensure SEO assets are visually stunning and "brand-first."
- Stakeholder Education: Work alongside Product and Engineering teams to embed SEO requirements into the development lifecycle and foster a culture of SEO best practices.
- Comms Alignment: Collaborate with the Comms team to turn Digital PR and community trends into long-tail keyword opportunities.
- Business Insights: Proactively stay up to date with commercial insights, maintaining alignment with Zego’s commercial strategy.
What you will need to be successful
- Proven SEO track record: dedicated SEO experience, with a track record of scaling organic growth for high-competition domains (Fintech, Insurtech, or E-commerce preferred).
- Strategic Roadmapping: The ability to own a full-funnel organic strategy, balancing "quick-win" commercial landing pages with long-term topical authority and informational content.
- Technical Excellence: A deep understanding of the "nuts and bolts," including HTML/JS/CSS, log file analysis, and the ability to solve complex crawl and indexing issues at scale.
- The "Search Everywhere" Mindset: A forward-thinking approach to SEO that includes App Store Optimization (ASO) and adapting strategies for Social Search (TikTok/YouTube) and Generative AI (GEO).
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Expert-level proficiency with the standard toolkit (GA4, GSC, Semrush/Ahrefs) and the ability to use data (Looker/Amplitude/Hotjar) to forecast ROI and build business cases.
- Authority Building: Experience of leading top-quality off-page strategies and high-tier Digital PR campaigns in contested markets where every link and ranking position matters.
- Collaborative Execution: A self-managed operator who can bridge the gap between technical requirements, brand voice and commercial strategy, working seamlessly with Developers, Product Owners, Creative and Performance teams.
- AI Literacy: Active use of LLMs (like Gemini or Claude) to accelerate research, content ideation, and data analysis to unlock time for high-level strategy.
- The "Site Builder" Spirit: A genuine passion for the industry. Ideally, you’ve built and grown your own projects or have a history of scaling traffic from scratch because you love the game.
- Strong Communication: The ability to translate complex technical friction points into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders at all levels of the business.

Our hybrid way of working is unique. We foster a flexible approach that empowers every Zegon to perform at their best. We ask you to spend at least one day a week in our central London office. Every team has the flexibility to choose the day that works best for them. We cover the costs for all company-wide events (3 per year), and also provide a separate hybrid contribution to help pay towards other travel costs. We think it's a good mix of collaborative face time and flexible home-working, setting us up to achieve the right balance between work and life.
