Position: SEO Strategist
Location: Hooton, Cheshire, CH66 7NZ

Contract: Full-time,
Working pattern: Office-based Mon – Fri 9am to 5pm, includes 30 mins for lunch break (flexibility around start and finish times), up to 2 days working from home per week
The Role
As our SEO Strategist, you’ll lead SEO strategy and delivery across a portfolio of client accounts, particularly larger and more complex clients, while embedding AI into how we research, plan, execute and report.
You’ll be accountable for improving organic performance through technical SEO, content strategy, authority building, conversion-focused optimisation, and for improving client visibility in AI-driven discovery channels, including LLM and generative search experiences, by strengthening brand authority, content clarity and entity understanding across the web.
You’ll be confident managing multiple accounts, communicating clearly with clients, and delivering measurable results within sensible timeframes.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Account Leadership
- Lead the development and delivery of SEO strategies across multiple clients, with ownership of larger accounts.
- Translate commercial goals into actionable SEO roadmaps, prioritised by impact and effort.
- Collaborate with PPC/Paid Social/Web teams where appropriate to deliver joined-up growth.
AI-Driven SEO Delivery
- Use AI tools responsibly to accelerate: keyword research, topical clustering and content planning, content brief creation and editorial frameworks, internal linking strategies and on-page optimisation recommendations, summarising large datasets and surfacing insights from performance trends
- Create and maintain repeatable AI workflows (prompts, templates and SOPs) for the SEO team.
- Apply quality controls to ensure AI-assisted outputs meet brand tone, accuracy and compliance standards (no “AI fluff”, no risky automation).
LLM & Generative Search Visibility (AI Search / GEO)
- Improve client visibility in LLM and generative search experiences by strengthening brand credibility, topical authority and consistency across digital touchpoints.
- Optimise content for semantic relevance, entity clarity and “citation-worthiness” (clear claims, supporting evidence, expert positioning and structured formatting).
- Audit and enhance supporting signals that influence AI discovery and trust, including structured data, author/about pages, internal linking, content hubs, and off-page coverage/digital PR.
- Monitor emerging AI search trends and translate them into practical, testable recommendations for clients.
Technical SEO & Website Performance
- Conduct technical SEO audits (crawlability, indexing, site architecture, Core Web Vitals, structured data, international SEO where relevant).
- Identify and remove impediments to organic growth and collaborate with developers to implement fixes.
- Recommend website changes that improve performance and conversion rates.
- Support site launches, hosting changes and migrations, including pre/post migration checks and risk mitigation.
Content & On-page SEO
- Conduct keyword research to guide content creation and optimisation.
- Produce high-quality AI-assisted, human-led content briefs for copywriters (search intent, structure, entities, internal links, EEAT considerations).
- Work with multiple brands and ensure recommendations align with each client’s positioning and tone of voice.
Authority Building & Off-page
- Conduct off-page and competitor analysis to identify link profile opportunities, vertical trends and risks.
- Improve authority through ethical, high-quality recommendations (no spam tactics).
Reporting & Client Communication
- Monitor SEO performance continuously and communicate findings clearly.
- Have a clear understanding of commercial opportunities and outcomes during reporting periods.
- Resolve technical queries, interpret performance and prepare monthly SEO reports with insights and next-step actions.
- Where relevant, report on initiatives designed to improve AI search visibility, using agreed proxy metrics (brand mentions, coverage/citations, content performance and share-of-voice indicators).
- Attend client meetings/calls when required and confidently present strategy, progress and recommendations.
Commercial Support
- Assist with new business proposals and sales pitches, including audits, opportunity analysis and strategic input.
Relevant Skills & Experience
Essential
- Minimum 2 years’ SEO experience within an agency environment.
- Proven ability to manage multiple client accounts and deliver results.
- Strong technical SEO understanding and auditing capability.
- An advanced understanding of commercial outcomes and where SEO fits in.
- Ability to lead others, maintain standards and hit targets/deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills—able to explain complex topics clearly to clients and internal teams.
- Proficient with Google Sheets/Microsoft Excel
- Strong working knowledge of tools such as Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Screaming Frog and aHrefs (and similar).
- Results-driven mindset with strong commercial awareness.
AI & LLM Search (Essential)
- Demonstrable experience using AI within SEO workflows (research, analysis, content planning, briefing and reporting).
- Ability to create and improve prompt frameworks, templates and QA processes.
- Understanding of how SEO intersects with AI/LLM discovery (semantic search, entity-based optimisation, authority signals, and content quality/citation likelihood).
- Ability to run experiments and document learnings to improve performance in AI-driven search experiences.
- Being able to reverse engineer LLM rankings to inform SEO strategies.
Preferred
- Educated to degree level or equivalent.
- Experience with Looker Studio reporting, CMS implementations, or basic scripting/data analysis (e.g., Python/SQL).
